The Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police has urged to be vigilant if an unknown person makes a video call. Police issued a statement on Sunday urging them not to make video calls or voice calls to strangers.
For some time now, some individuals / criminal groups have been abusing technology by sending friend requests to social media users, making video calls on Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Viber, Emo, etc., and demanding money, according to the Cyber Bureau.
A statement issued by the bureau said that the video call was recorded and threatened to be involved in cyber crime after an unidentified person incited the person concerned to engage in immoral / obscene activities by showing obscene activities.
“As the number of people threatening to destroy social and family relationships and demanding money is on the rise, all social media users should be aware of such activities and avoid falling prey to criminal individuals and groups,” he said.
