Gandaki Chief Minister Pandey’s suggestion to service providers to reduce internet and phone charges

The Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Surendra Raj Pandey, has suggested the service providers to provide quality services easily by reducing internet and phone charges.

He said this in an interaction with service providers and stakeholders regarding the current situation and quality of telecommunication services in Gandaki province held in Pokhara on Friday.

“The world has become narrower with telecommunication services, people want fast service at hand” he said, “Service providers should work to provide cheaper and better service than what is happening now.” Stating that the telecommunication service is not effective in the remote Himalayan and high mountain areas, he requested to pay attention to the expansion of the service.

“There is also an allegation that service providers are profit-oriented,” Chief Minister Pandey said. Stating that communication services are also connected with the freedom of individuals, he said that the cases of misuse of technology have also increased in the name of freedom.

Chief Minister Pandey requested to come up with a solution through discussions about the problems seen in communication services within Gandaki province, solutions, role to be played by the provincial government to provide more quality service facilities, work to be done, plans of the authority etc.

Purushottam Prasad Khanal, Chairman of Nepal Telecommunication Authority, said that after the interaction, it will help in expanding the service and maintaining the quality.

Dr. Krishnachandra Devkota, Vice Chairman of Gandaki State Policy and Planning Commission, local people’s representatives, heads and representatives of service provider organizations participated in the program.
