Govt to bring renewal of driving license every 10 years
12 Baisakh, Kathmandu. The government has now prepared to introduce a system to renew driving licenses in 10 years.
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Prakash Jwala said that the renewal of licenses in 10 years is a legal process.
He said, ‘In terms of renewal, since it will be faster in five years and also a bit difficult, we have legally advanced the process of renewing it in 10 years.’
Currently, there is a provision to renew the driving license every five years. Since this system is a bit complicated, the existing law is going to be amended for the system of renewal in 10/10 years.
He informed that it was believed that the load for printing new smart cards will be reduced by changing the provision to renew every 5/5 years to 10 years.
