Illegal call bypass together with Chinese and Nepali, 3700 SIMs seized

Two people have been arrested after it was found that the Chinese and Nepalese were illegally bypassing calls. According to the Central Investigation Bureau of Police, they were arrested and investigated for being involved in illegal international call/SMS bypass in Mahalakshmi Municipality-5 Tikathali Kharibot of Lalitpur.

According to Sanjaysingh Thapa, Superintendent of Police of the Bureau, those arrested are Chinese national Zhao Xiangpeng, 32, and Ganesh Shrestha, 22, resident of Sindhupalchok Tripurasundari, Kathmandu Metropolitan Municipality-16 Sohrakhutte.

Police deputed from Central Bureau of Investigation Maharajganj had been conducting a search for a few days based on a secret information that illegal suspicious activity was going on in Tikathali Kharibot of Lalitpur Mahalakshmi Municipality-5.

At the same time, they were arrested while renting a house in Kharibot and illegally bypassing calls and SMS without taking permission from any agency of Nepal government.

A large amount of SIM cards and other illegal devices, Nepali rupees and currency of different countries were recovered from them.

Only 3,700 Ncell SIM cards that have been used and not used have been recovered from them. Similarly, around five lakh Nepali rupees and dollars from different countries have also been recovered.

Under the Telecommunication Act, 2053, more investigation is being done on them with permission from the Lalitpur District Court today.
