The Nepal Telecommunication Authority has informed that according to the Nepal Government’s “Private Use Goods Order 2077”, the concerned person can register the mobile sets brought for personal purposes in the MDMS. Also, mobile sets brought from abroad for personal sponsorship and passed the inspection at the customs office will be automatically registered in the MDMS system. is

It is arranged that the mobile phones brought for private sponsorship should be entered and registered in the MDMS system by entering the passport or citizenship and the page of the passport showing the arrival/departure stamp or the boarding pass documents.

The MDMS system is a project initiated to stop unauthorized mobile sales and distribution and to bring it into the revenue range.

Even though the government tried to ban mobile phones with the aim of not depleting the foreign exchange reserves, millions of customs evading phones are imported through illegal means, which has a negative impact on the dollars coming into the country through remittances. On the one hand, common consumers will be cheated, and on the other hand, the revenue will decrease and the business of mobile businessmen will be reduced, so MDMS is going to be implemented.
