Redmi A2 Rumors: Specifications, Availability, Launch

Redmi A2 rumors

Xiaomi launched its budget Redmi A1 smartphone last year at a pretty competitive price. Now, leaks and renders of its successor, Redmi A2 have surfaced online. The device is expected to have a dual camera setup and a MediaTek Helio G36 chipset. Let’s know what the rumor mills have in store about the Redmi A2.

Redmi A2 Rumors:

Same Old Design

Renders from Winfuture point to the same old design as its predecessor, the Redmi A1. The phone looks identical with a faux leather-like finish, and a glass front with a teardrop notch. Also, the fingerprint sensor is nowhere to be seen. But like last year, Redmi might introduce the A2+ with a fingerprint sensor.

Redmi A2 Renders

Moreover, even the screen size is said to remain at 6.52-inch, the same as the Redmi A1. The IPS LCD display will have a 1,600 x 720 pixels (HD+) resolution. There is no mention of a fast refresh rate, hence it is likely to stay at 60Hz.

Helio G36 Chipset

WinFuture also points out that the upcoming Redmi A2 will feature a newly announced, 12nm-based Helio G36 chipset. This Octa-core CPU from Mediatek is a significant upgrade over the quad-core Helio A22 used in Redmi A1. So, the smartphone should offer better performance.

Dual Camera

Not only the design and display, but the plastic film with imprinted specs also showcases the 8MP dual camera setup on the A2. So, the primary sensor will be an 8MP camera, accompanied by a secondary AI camera.

Moving on, the device is likely to retain the age-old Micro USB port and a 5000mAh battery. The phone will boot on Android 13 Go Edition out of the box. Like its older siblings, the phone will start from a 2/32GB variant.

Redmi A2 Rumored Specs:

  • Display: 6.52-inch LCD panel, HD+ resolution
  • Chipset: MediaTek Helio G36, 12nm
  • Memory: 2GB RAM
  • Storage: 32GB
