Samsung in collaboration with Him Electronics inaugurated a television factory in Nawalparasi
Samsung has inaugurated a landmark television factory today in Nawalparasi in collaboration with Him Electronics.
According to Him Electronics, this is the first example of a multinational company established to produce electronics in Nepal with a big impact on the local economy.
This new television factory of Samsung was jointly inaugurated by Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supply Ramesh Rizal and President and Chief Executive Officer of Samsung South (West Asia) JB Park.
The opening ceremony was attended by Shekhar Golcha, Chairman and Managing Director of Golcha Group, Park Chong Suk, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nepal, Sung Joon Park, Head of Nepal Samsung Electronics, and other local officials.
In his speech at the opening ceremony, Park said that Samsung, which has been in Nepal for more than 2 decades, has forged a strong relationship with the Nepalese people.
He said, ‘This new television factory with our partner Him Electronics will further strengthen our relationship with Nepal and this is another example of the work we are doing to strengthen the local industry. Samsung will provide employment opportunities to the people here. Also, we assure you that the company will play a significant role in building skilled manpower.’
Addressing the ceremony, Shekhar Golchha said that the collaboration with Samsung will show the potential in this field in Nepal. The world’s largest electronics company has shown deep interest in the Nepali market. Which is an important sign for us. With appropriate policies to promote this sector, we can see many positive contributions to the country’s economy in the form of employment, value addition and cross-border opportunities in the country,” he said.
The foundation stone of this television factory was laid in August, 2022. The company said that this factory with new facilities is a milestone in the journey of production in Nepal.
