Scammers are on the rise by creating fake ChatGPs, so stay safe

Seeing the popularity of ChatGPT, many IT companies have shown interest in it. Scammers have also started taking advantage of this popularity.

Scammers are trying to take advantage of users by rolling out fake ChatGPT AI chatbots. Many users are using fake chatgpt thinking that it is real chatgpt.

According to a researcher, a new wave of malware variants has emerged after the launch of OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 and later GPT-4. This fake app is designed to target users who use chatgpt tool.

On further investigation by the researchers, two different types of active malware have been identified. The first ChatGPT fake app is called “Super GPT” app but actually it is meterpreter trojan. It is a GPT Four powered AI assistant that handles tasks like writing emails, answering questions and writing articles. Apart from this, it also works as a speech and language translator.

Another version looks just like the “ChatGPT” app, but this app is found to be sending messages to premium numbers located in Thailand. A different version of this app allows hackers to use Android tools remotely.

Moreover, all these APK files have the Open AI logo, so that users generally understand that it is only ChatGPTN.

APK malware apps that look like ChatGPT are very dangerous, researchers have warned. With the help of these apps, the data of your mobile device can be leaked and your privacy can also become a problem.

These fake apps that look like real apps access your phone data and then steal your bank details and make you a victim of fraud.

Things to note for chatgpt users:

Install antivirus software on your smartphone to protect yourself from such malware.

Be careful when downloading third-party apps.

Always download apps from trusted sources only.

Always check the name of the app developer before downloading.

Keep your phone updated when new security patches are available.
