Qualcomm will be hosting a launch event in Beijing, China on March 17. Most likely to unveil new chipsets in the Snapdragon 7 series. And the latest rumors indicate the company could announce Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1, which could be called 7 Gen 2 since it’s almost a year since Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 debuted.
Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 Rumors:
Qualcomm’s unannounced chipset “SM7475” appeared on Geekbench last week, which is expected to be Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 or 7 Gen 2.
And according to the listing, this chipset will have an octa-core CPU with one high-performance Cortex-X2 (@2.92 GHz), three mid-tier Cortex-A710 (@2.5 GHz), and four power-efficient Cortex-A510 cores (@1.8 GHz). On the other hand, the SM7475 is said to be equipped with Adreno 725 GPU (@580 MHz).
Underclocked Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1
Similarly, this Snapdragon chip scored 1232 on Geekbench 5’s single-core and 4095 on multi-core tests. And looking at those scores and the CPU core configuration, the Snapdragon SM7475 looks to be an underclocked version of the flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip.
To recall, the 8+ Gen 1 was 2022’s mid-year refresh to the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. And this chipset’s octa-core CPU has one high-end Cortex-X2 (@3.2 GHz). Followed by three mid-tier Cortex-A710 (@2.5 GHz), and four energy-efficient Cortex-A510 CPUs (@1.8 GHz). On the graphics front, it features Adreno 730 GPU clocked at 900 MHz.
Moving on, the supposed 7+ Gen 1 chip will be manufactured under TSMC’s 4nm process technology. Besides its likeness to the 8+ Gen 1, the Geekbench results also reveal that its performance is superior to MediaTek’s Dimensity 8200 and comparable to the Dimensity 9000 instead. Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 was also spotted on AnTuTu on a Realme phone, with a score of 1,029,731.
