Spam call detection feature coming to WhatsApp, partnership with Truecaller

WhatsApp is soon going to add a new feature to the app to identify fake and spam calls (both video/audio). For this, the instant messaging app has partnered with Truecolor to provide caller identification services.

According to media reports, this feature will help WhatsApp users identify fake, spam and calls coming through the Internet.

The new feature will be available for both video and audio calls on WhatsApp. Currently, users on Truecaller can only identify calls received through their telecom service providers.

This facility will be available for everyone by the end of May. Alan Mamedi, CEO of Truecolor, said the feature is currently in beta testing.

This feature will be rolled out globally by the end of May. However, he did not give any specific date about the roll out of this feature.

According to Truecaller’s 2021 report, the number of telemarketing and spam calls is steadily increasing in many countries. It is shared to control this. Truecolor has 350 million users worldwide.
