The court did not grant an interim order on Smart’s writ to stop the revocation of the license

The Patan High Court has refused to issue an interim order on a writ petition filed against the decision of the Nepal Telecommunication Authority to revoke the license of Smart Telecom. The court has called both parties to discuss whether or not to issue an interim order.

Along with this, Smart’s attempt to stop license revocation has failed. In the writ filed by Ramnath Vantha Tharu on behalf of Smart Telecom, the court has ordered to show cause.

The bench of Judge Dipendra Bahadur Bam of Patan High Court ordered to show cause and asked both parties to appear in the court on 8 Baisakh.

Nepal Telecommunication Authority has revoked the basic telephone service license of Smart Telecom Pvt Ltd.
On Monday, the authority decided that the license was automatically revoked as per the Telecommunication Act after the license renewal application was not submitted along with the fee.
