The world’s first camera phone

In June 2000, Samsung introduced the world’s first phone with a camera for photography. This smartphone was a flip smartphone that was released to the world by Samsung with the model number SCH-V200.

The phone was given a 0.35 MP camera. The biggest drawback of this phone is that after taking a photo on the phone, you had to connect it to a computer to view it.

First camera phone with flash

In November 2002, another Japanese company, Sanyo SCP-5300, released its mobile phone. It was the first phone in the world to have flash. This phone also had features like digital zoom, photo filter effect, self timer and white balance.

Within a year, the Sanyo SCP-5300 mobile phone began competing in the mass market of DVD players. At that time, the price of this phone was 400 US dollars.

First front camera phone

Sony launched the Sony Ericsson Z1010 mobile in 2004 which gave a new trend to mobile cameras. It was the world’s first phone with a front camera. This phone had a 0.3 MP front camera. The front camera on the phone was launched only for video conferencing in the office or during meetings. At that time, no one knew that the word ‘selfie’ would become a trend in the future.

The first dual camera phone

LG and HTC have started to provide two camera sensors in the phone. In February 2011, LG released the LG Optimus 3D P920 phone and HTC launched the HTC Evo 3D in March. At that time, the dual camera was introduced only for taking 3D photos and videos.

The first dual front camera phone

Lenovo brought a phone equipped with two selfie cameras for the first time in the world. Lenovo introduced the world’s first dual front camera phone Lenovo Vive S1 at the IFA event held in Berlin in 2015. This phone had two front cameras of 8 megapixels and 2 megapixels.
