We recognize the communication sector as a service industry: Prime Minister Prachanda

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has promised that the communication sector will be recognized as a service industry. Prime Minister Prachanda said this while speaking at a program organized in the federal capital Kathmandu on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Prachanda said, ‘The entire economy is in trouble due to earthquakes, covid, etc. Due to which the communication sector is also in trouble now. But for the development and expansion of the communication sector, we distribute all government advertisements through the advertisement board.’

He said that the guarantee of professional and physical safety of journalists and all types of media, as well as living allowance will be arranged for senior and disabled journalists.

He said, ‘Initiatives are being taken to establish an integrated media development fund. Efforts are also being made to make a law regarding this with the concerned parties. By giving up the negative feeling that nothing is impossible, that everyone is the same, the government under my leadership will give people confidence that even the impossible is possible.’

He also said that the media industry will be freed from the double taxation system such as royalty and tax and will also be exempted from fines imposed on it.

Prime Minister Prachanda informed that he is preparing to enact a communication-related law to ensure complete freedom of the press. He said, ‘Communication related laws are being made to ensure full press freedom. I have given instructions to make a draft of the law with the participation of the stakeholders.’
