Why are Google, Amazon, Microsoft and Meta cutting employees?

Microsoft (Bing Satya Nadella)

Microsoft has invested heavily in OpenAI. The company is using GPT technology in its Bing search engine and office suite. According to CEO Satya Nadella, AI will drive the company’s revenue growth. He said that Bing’s downloads have quadrupled since Microsoft added the chatbot.

Microsoft has also generated more than 200 million images through Bing integration. Nadella said building the large data centers needed to power AI would require large amounts of capital. He stressed that we will continue to invest in our cloud infrastructure, and especially AI-related spending by the company.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has also shown interest in investing in AI. Responding to a query on the company’s generative AI plans, he said the company is building an LLM and designing data center chips for machine learning.

Meta – Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, has emphasized that the company will continue to work on the Metaverse project despite losses. Zuckerberg also revealed that the company is working on AI and machine learning technologies to power products such as Facebook’s news feed or advertising system.

Zuckerberg said that 2023 is an amazing year and what is happening now will impact every app and service in the future. The company aims to focus on the use of technology, including the chat experience on WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, and image creation tools for posts on Facebook and Instagram.
