Exynos 2400 with a 10-core CPU in the works at Samsung

Exynos 2400

Samsung ditched its own Exynos brand of mobile processors for this year’s Galaxy S23 lineup. But according to a new leak from Ice Universe (@UniverseIce), Samsung hasn’t given up on developing flagship Exynos chips just yet. And Exynos 2400 chip with a whopping 10-core CPU could be in the works at Samsung.

Exynos 2400 Rumors:

Exynos

According to the leaks, this chip will have a deca-core CPU cluster which is pretty rare these days. But definitely not a first in the industry. Even though octa-core CPU arrangements are more common these days, MediaTek already experimented with a 10-core CPU all the way back in 2017 with the Helio X20. This chip was found in phones like Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 4.

Anyway, the 10-core CPU in Exynos 2400 will reportedly include 1x Cortex-X4, 2x Cortex-A720 (higher frequency), 3x Cortex-A720 (lower frequency), and 4x Cortex-A520 cores.

As of now, this is all the available information on the rumored Exynos 2400. The tipster has mentioned that this information is from a reliable source. And it seems that Samsung has skipped its own flagship chip this year because the company will be coming with something big next year.

Exynos 2400 Leak - Ice Universe

As we have seen in the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 series, Samsung used to offer Snapdragon chips in limited markets like the United States, China, and South Korea while the rest of the world got Exynos-powered phones. Then with the Galaxy S22 series, Samsung limited Exynos chip to just Europe.

Flash forward to 2023, Samsung has stopped using Exynos in any region for the new Galaxy S23 series. Opting for a custom-made “Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy” chip instead. But Exynos could make a big comeback in 2024.

As of now, we can’t say for sure what phones the Exynos 2400 will appear on. It’s highly unlikely this chip will power the company’s next foldable: the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5. Instead, it could debut with the Galaxy S24 series instead.
