Samsung unveiled the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 series, its latest Android smartwatches, at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event 2022 on August 10, 2022.

The Galaxy Watch 5 series has two smartwatches: the vanilla Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro — a new Pro model. The Galaxy Watch 5 replaces last year’s Samsung Galaxy Watch 4.
The vanilla Galaxy Watch 5 comes in two models: 40mm and 44mm. Let’s discuss the specifications and features of the standard Samsung Galaxy Watch 5.

Design and Display
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 (also the Watch 5 Pro) is the first smartwatch from Samsung that features a sapphire crystal display. Samsung says that it is 60% harder than the Gorilla Glass DX+ used on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Design
Unlike the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro’s titanium frame, the frame of the vanilla Watch 5 is made up of aluminium. The watch is certified to 5ATM and IP68 standards for protection against water, and MIL-STD-810H — the 2019 version of US Military Standard.
The 40mm model, which has a 1.2-inch displayweighs 28.7g, while the 44mm variant is slightly heavier at 33.5g. The 44mm model has a 1.4-inch display. Both the models have a Super AMOLED panel.

Hardware
The wearable is powered by the same Exynos W920 chipset that also powered the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. It’s a 5nm SoC with two Arm Cortex-A55 cores running at 1.18GHz and a Mali-G68 MP2 GPU.
The device comes with 1.5GB RAM and 16GB internal storage.
Health and Features
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 comes with Samsung’s BioActive Sensorwhich was introduced on the Galaxy Watch 4 series. The sensor can measure optical heart rate, electrical heart signal (ECG), and bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA).

The Watch 5 series also introduces a temperature sensor that uses infrared technology for measuring body temperature. Like before, it can monitor sleep stages and sleep patterns, along with snore detection and blood oxygen levels.
If the user trips, the Samsung Galaxy Watch’s fall detection will notify the emergency contact if there is a network connection.
Software
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 runs on One UI Watch 4.5 on top of Google’s Wear OS 3.5. Deezer and Soundcloud will soon be available on the new Wear OS, allowing for music listening from the watch without the need for a phone nearby.
Later this year, Google will push a feature that lets you use Google Maps on the watch without the need for a smartphone.
Connectivity and Battery
The smartwatch supports Bluetooth 5.2 and dual-band Wi-Fi 4 for connectivity. It also has NFC and support for GPS, Glonass, Beidou, and Galileo.
As for the battery, the Watch 5 has a 13% larger battery than the Galaxy Watch 4. The 44mm model has a 410mAh batterywhereas the 40mm has a 284mAh battery.
It also supports faster wireless charging. Samsung claims in around 30 minutes, the watch’s battery can go from 0% to 45%. With just eight minutes of charging, Samsung says that the watch can provide eight hours of sleep tracking.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Price in Nepal and Availability
The price of the Galaxy Watch 5 starts at $279 for the Bluetooth version and $329 for the LTE version in the international market. In Nepal, the price of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is expected to start at Rs. 38,000.
