Why men dominate women?
Women are the symbol of creation. Men and Women are two wheels of the chariot. Women are the source of affection.
All these above statements prove hypocritical notion when the practical aspect comes ahead. Ironically, not only in the backward societies like ours where there is a wide disparity between male and female but even it-in sophisticated societies the very sexist trend can felt in various forms.
Our society has been structured in such a way that women from their early childhood is brainwashed by their surrounding to accept that female sex is inferior to men. So much so, the stereotyped norms of our society have made their psychology so bluntly feeble that they even cannot detect her value of being a human being.
As far as the question why men dominate women is concerned, it is needless to reiterate the prejudice values and norms has played an instrumental role in assuming the women as only the baby producing machine.
It is the very culture of the society which forces the men to think his sex is superior, and are socially allowed to enjoy so-called supreme power towards women.
Since the women are deprived of participating in various key segments of social, political and economic activities, among others, their vision and leadership had largely remained untapped.
Not only these, dominating culture is also indirectly responsible for dying half a women annually in the developing world from complications of pregnancy and better. There are so many burning examples for bringing plight to women, especially in the developing world, triggered by dominating culture.
Sexual harassment and violence, offending women in the public places, understanding their efforts, and depriving female from participating in various social development sectors are some of the forms of dominating women.
Until and unless women are empowered through equitable laws, policies, and programs that expand education, health care and gainful, employment, women will keep on suffering from the dominating culture.
Very confined access to resources than men and lacks of participatory approach in decision making organs, if to name a few, has further aggravated the situation of women with equal rights and greater access to resources, vital social services and opportunities, women can improve the quality of lives and those of their families and contribute to the prosperity of their nations and the stability of our turbulent world.
