Xiaomi is set to launch the Xiaomi 12 Lite in Nepal. The phone was announced in July in the global market.

The Xiaomi 12 Lite is the latest smartphone in Xiaomi 12 lineup. It is the lite version of the Xiaomi 12 that was launched in April 2022 in Nepal. The phone succeeds last year’s Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE.

Design

The Xiaomi 12 Lite has a frosted glass finish back and a plastic colour-matching frame. With a thickness of 7.29mm and a weight of 173g, the phone is still slim and light but not quite as thin and light as its predecessor.

The back has a vertical transparent rectangle that houses three rear cameras and a dual-tone flash. The three camera circles are surrounded by halo metal rings. Unfortunately, the phone no longer has an official IP rating.

The right side of the phone has power and volume buttons, while the bottom side has a SIM card tray, microphone, USB-C port, and a speaker (the second speaker doubles as an earpiece). The phone is available in Black, Lite Green, and Lite Pink colours.

Display

The device has a 6.55-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with up to a 120Hz refresh rate. The display supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+. It also has an optical fingerprint sensor underneath.

It has a typical brightness of 500nits and a peak brightness of 950nits. There is a punch-hole cutout at the upper centre of the display.

Hardware

Powering the Xiaomi 12 Lite is the same processor that powered the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE — the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G. The SoC is built on a 6nm process node.

It has eight CPU cores which include four 2.4GHz Kryo 670 (Arm Cortex-A78) and four 1.8GHz Kryo 670 (Arm Cortex-A55) with Adreno 642L GPU. For memory, it comes with 6/8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128/256GB UDS 2.2 storage.

Camera

The smartphone features a triple camera setup that includes a 108MP main cameraan 8MP ultrawide cameraand a 2MP macro camera.

The front has a 32MP selfie cameraup from 20MP. The phone is capable of recording 4K video at 30fps.

Battery and OS

The 12 Lite has a 4300mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging.

In terms of software, it comes with MIUI 13 based on Android 12.

The Xiaomi 12 Lite price in Nepal is expected to be Rs. 50,000. The device will be available at Xiaomi authorised stores across Nepal when it launches in Nepal.

The Xiaomi 12 Lite is a mid-range phone that succeeds last year’s Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE and is a lite version of the more expensive Xiaomi 12 models.

The device has a 120Hz AMOLED screen, 108MP main camera, and 67W fast charging. However, the phone does not bring much upgrade when it comes to battery capacity.

The phone also does not have an IP rating and microSD card support anymore. And it is powered by the same Snapdragon 778G chipset.
