China has launched its biggest rocket ever to bring rocks and soil from the moon

Kathmandu. China launched its spacecraft on Friday to bring rock and soil samples from the moon to Earth. China launched its largest rocket, Long March 5, on Friday, with the Chang'e 6 probe weighing more than eight metric tons from the Wenchang Space Launch Center.

The rover will land in the southern part of the moon called the Aitken Basin. If the spacecraft lands safely according to plan, it will be the furthest human-made object to reach that part. Similarly, China will become the first country to bring rocks and soil from that area.

However, this project falls under the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program which started in 2004. It is also known as 'Changai'. So far, China has launched five spacecraft under this project. Changi-1 was launched for the first time in 2007.

China first stepped into this project in 2018 from Changi-4. Similarly, from Changi-5 in 2020, China succeeded in bringing the moon rock back to earth after 44 years in human history. Now, China is going to explore the part of the moon that has not yet been reached by humans.

Chinese scientists are not the only ones involved in this lunar mission. Scientists from China, France, Italy, Pakistan, and European agencies were involved in preparing the probe for Changi-6.

According to scientists, this probe will step on its lunar surface in the first week of June. It will then be spent collecting about two kilograms of lunar rock and soil. After that, this probe will return to the earth with the said sample. The place reached by this probe can be considered as the outer reaches of the moon. Because this part is never visible from the earth.

However, scientists hope that the samples collected from it will provide more new information about the moon. Because scientists say that there are about four billion years old rocks in the south pole of the moon. The samples collected earlier were tested and found to be 2/3 billion years old.
