Information to the Prime Minister about the technical testing of the ‘Electronic License’ system

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has been informed about the technical audit of the ‘Electronic Driving License’ system of the Department of Transport.

The Technical Test Committee formed by the Information Technology Department under the coordination of the Prime Minister’s Office met the Prime Minister and submitted the technical test report of the ‘Electronic Driving License’ system and informed them about the technical condition of the department.

In the report, there are suggestions for immediate improvements and long-term technical improvements. After understanding the report, Prime Minister Dahal stated that he would study the received report and implement it and directed to solve the problems in the system and provide convenient services to the people.

If a large number of fake licenses were issued in the process of distribution of vehicle driver’s permits (license) operated by the Transport Management Office, it was mentioned that there was a problem in the technical system in use there, and the test of the technical system was completed by the Information Technology Department in coordination with the Cabinet Office.

To implement the concept of ‘Make in Nepal, Made in Nepal’ the government, there is a provision to use domestically produced goods even though it is 20 per cent more expensive and to encourage local participants in the ‘ICT’ project by making the country self-reliant in information technology, technical tests have also been carried forward.

Premsharan Shrestha, the coordinator of the committee and director general of the information and technology department, said that due to the difficulty in service delivery when there are frequent problems in the information technology system of public bodies, the study was done by forming a committee. According to him, currently, the transport management department has been studied and in the future, technical tests will be conducted wherever problems arise in public bodies.

The Prime Minister’s Office formed a 13-member committee to conduct a technical examination of the information technology system in various government agencies on January 10.

Rayamazhi, the Prime Minister’s personal information technology expert, informed that the Prime Minister’s Office has formed a technical test committee to study the various problems currently facing the information technology sector of Nepal and the reasons behind them.

He claims that the government’s analysis of the budget allocated and expenditure incurred in the information, communication and technology sector during the ten years from 2069/70 to 2079/80 has revealed the fact that unnecessary and uneconomical expenditure has been incurred in the sector and this has placed a heavy financial burden on the state.

There will be continuous problems in the digital systems purchased and built from the government budget and the services that flow through them, thus hindering service delivery, and because there is not enough interconnection between the systems, citizens are forced to provide the same information to each agency over and over again, stating that these systemic errors He said that because the government’s performance and good governance are being questioned, there is a need to conduct technical tests on public service providers.
