According to reports, a modified version of the app is embedded with links to the Trojan Triad and malicious code. According to the mobile research team at cyber-security firm Check Point, the malware within this dangerous app is designed to trick victims into signing up for subscriptions to various apps, making unauthorized in-app purchases and stealing login passwords.

The malware cleverly disguises itself as a newer version of Telegram Messenger, specifically version 9.2.1. Since Telegram’s logo is used in it, many people think that this malware is also the real Telegram app.

After users open the app, Telegram’s verification screen opens where users are asked to enter their device’s phone number and give phone permission to the app.

As soon as permission is given, it starts stealing data. After stealing, the malware downloads the configuration file and sends it to its server.
