Indian Finance Minister’s request to implement Nepal-India electronic payment soon

In the meeting of finance ministers of G-20 countries in Gujarat, India, Finance Minister Dr. Prakasharan Mahat and Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman discussed mutual cooperation and bilateral relations.

During the discussion, both the Finance Ministers stressed on solving the problems encountered in the implementation of the development projects being run in Nepal with Indian aid and completing them on time. According to Finance Minister Mahat’s secretariat, bilateral trade and investment issues will be discussed between the two Finance Ministers.

Also, the Finance Minister’s Secretariat has informed that the implementation of the electricity export agreement concluded during the visit of the Prime Minister of Nepal to India was also discussed.

The Finance Minister of India requested to speed up the implementation of the joint electronic payment mechanism as per the agreement between NPHL and International Payments Limited of India.

In response, Finance Minister Mahat said that work is underway to establish a mechanism to implement the project soon.
