Nepali software being used in financial institutions in Myanmar and Bangladesh

Significantly few Nepali software programs developed in Nepal have successfully operated abroad. One of the lesser software is the 360 core banking system.

360 Core Banking System is a software developed by Junelli Inc. 360 core banking system is a software made in Nepal, which was started from abroad.
Apar Thebe, CEO of Junelli Inc., said the 360 Core Banking System is software prepared in accordance with the standards of the core banking system for financial institutions.

“Based on financial numbers, we have created a 360 core banking system,” he told ICT News.

After graduation, Apar Thebe wanted to work in the field of technology, and his studies were in technology. While he was considering this option, he got the idea of making software for the financial sector.

After two years of hard work, the 360 core banking system has been operational since 2072. It was first used in Myanmar. Currently, the software runs in 6 microfinance institutions in Myanmar and over 350 cooperatives in Nepal.

360 core banking system has all the facilities required in a core banking system, including cloud banking, mobile banking, mobile teller, branchless banking, ATM, and SMS banking.
Junelli Inc. has come to its current position after overcoming many challenges.

Thebe says that while it is running successfully in Myanmar and Bangladesh, it has also started working here since 2074 after a proposal to use the software came from the cooperative sector of Nepal.
‘It was a matter of happiness for us that the software we developed was used in foreign financial institutions at the beginning,’ he says happily, ‘now we are serving many cooperatives in Nepal as well. There is a plan to increase it further.’

There are many software used in cooperatives in the market. But more than half of the software has gone beyond financial numbers. Thebe claims that more than half of the software available in the market does not flow financial numbers.

He says, ‘In some software available in the market, data entry can be done by going to the backdate. Financial numbers do not accept that. However, that work is being done.’ The 360 core banking system is strict about using financial numbers.

Sometimes, the customer goes beyond the number and asks for service facilities. However, the company does not provide that service. Instead of that, the software is withdrawn by mutual agreement. So far, about 20-30 per cent of the company’s software has been pulled from the client’s organization. More than 25 people are currently employed in the company. Most of them are working on a project basis.

When foreigners trust Nepali software, Nepali people are unable to trust it. In our question, he believes that workforce, delivery of service facilities, etc., have some impact on it.

Some talents and companies can do world-class work in Nepal. However, he believes that scaling a project ‘beyond’ a framework will be difficult due to a lack of workforce.

‘This is our weakness. It should be accepted,’ says Thebe. He also said that in some cases, even when given an opportunity, if the work is not done on time, distrust appears.
