After all the effort you put into your blog, you are earning quite a sum of money for yourself everyday. You SEO-ed your domain, bought your own domain name, optimized your domain for Google AdSense and everything and you are a happy person. One day after you come back from work/school/whatever, You login to your blog, and suddenly your blog is not what it’s used to be anymore.

Today I will be talking about steps you should take to protect your blog from potential hacker attacks. This guide contains the basics of the basics of how you can protect your blog. Hope that these steps will be simple enough for everyone to understand, if not then you can always ask me.

1. Get an anti-virus program, and update its database regularly

Sometimes there are.. ‘bugs’ or ‘defects’ in your anti-virus programs and if you do not update it regularly, hackers may take advantage of the situation and compromise your blog’s safety

2. Use your anti-virus program to scan your computer regularly

Even with the anti-virus program installed, it is still possible that there are still traces of spyware/malware/adware left in your computer. Destroy those things and hackers will have a harder time cracking your blog

3. Install Firewall to your computer

Install a Firewall program to your computer to prevent unwanted transfer of files across the hackers’ computer and yours

4. Be careful of the websites you visit, especially adult ones

Adult websites are riddled with malicious viruses. Do not go there if you can because it is possible that these viruses can come on to your computer without you knowing

5. Destroy spyware with your anti-spyware program or prevent it with the said Firewall

Spywares are viruses that hackers use to get your sensitive information and use it for their own benefit. Destroy them with your anti-spyware programs before they destroy you

6. Be self-conscious when disclosing your personal information to anyone on the web

Make sure that the websites you buy your products from or use their services are trustworthy websites. Internet scams are rampant (everywhere) so Make sure you only give your personal information to the companies you can trust

7. Follow the news on computer virus outbreaks

Like an old saying goes: it’s always better to prevent yourself from the problem than to cure it when you get one.
