A Decent Value under Rs. 60,000?
Under the Vivo V series, the Nepalese market has only witnessed the arrival of the Vivo V27. Vivo Nepal will most likely not launch the Vivo V27 Pro and X series which are more expensive than Vivo V27. I used the device for more than two weeks and compared its camera gainst the Galaxy A54. And here’s my Vivo V27 review.

Vivo V27 Review:
What is in the box?
The Vivo V27 comes in a gray box where you will find the smartphone right on top. Below the phone, there is a clear TPU case and a warranty booklet. The box also includes an 80-watt FlashCharge adapter and a USB-A to USB-C charging cable.
However, there are no other additional accessories included, unlike the V25 series. Nevertheless, it’s still notable that the box includes a fast-charging adapter, which is more than what you get with specific flagship models from Apple, Google, and Samsung.
Design and Build
Vivo is well-known for its attractive design and this series maintains the same impression. The Vivo V27 offers a stunning design with elegance and premium quality. Its slim profile, curved display, and glass back panel contribute to the glossy and sophisticated look. This smartphone is lightweight, weighing just 180g. the eye-catching Magic Blue Color gives a marble-like rear panel that changes its color in sunlight. Under UV-ray, it turns its light-blue color to dark.
It features a dual-curved design with the back glass and displays beautifully curving towards the edges, giving a feel of luxury and a premium experience. The buttons are also positioned efficiently with a minimalistic port design. The back of the smartphone shows the Vivo branding and a silver camera with 3 lenses and a built-in mini ring light.
In the dark scenarios, this phone does not have an IP rating which is a quite disappointment for the price. If you are among those who are into listening to music then there’s disappointing news for you because this smartphone only offers a single speaker like the usual Vivo series. Also, it has a new punch-hole design for a selfie camera in place of its old tear-drop design.
Display
With a 6.78-inch AMOLED display supporting HDR10+, Vivo V27 offers users an amazing visual experience. It provides a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, delivering sharpness and vibrance in the visual. With the high refresh rate of 120Hz, scrolling, browsing, and gaming feels quite smooth. However, it does not support HDR video playback in its OTT platform which we can expect in its upcoming update.
This device allows you to customize the layout, icons, and more as there are quite a few widgets. There are also some easy shortcuts you can try out. Notifications and calls get separate volume sliders and vibration intensity can be adjusted for calls and notifications separately. However, you cannot find strong vibration feedback during calls.
Performance and Storage
In terms of processor, Vivo V27 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset (4 nm), accompanied by the Mali-G610 MC4 GPU. The CPU in the Vivo V27 uses a two-cluster configuration with two powerful Cortex-A715 cores running at 2.8GHz and six energy-efficient Cortex-A510 running at 2.0GHz.
The Vivo V27 offers a fast and smooth experience in everyday use. It handles tasks like navigating the user interface, opening apps, and switching between them effortlessly. While it may not be the most powerful phone for gaming in its price range, it still performs well enough. According to FPS charts, it achieves 58 frames per second (fps) in PUBG and 91 fps in Mech Arena, indicating decent gaming performance.
OS and UI
With a Funtouch 13, Vivo V27 is based on the latest Android 13 OS for pre-installed latest Android version experience. However, the update from Funtouch 12 to 13 doesn’t have major noticeable changes, but it provides a unique user interface that differentiates it from stock Android. Yes, we get a powerful chipset but it lacks good optimization. Also, this smartphone does not provide an OS update policy, unlike its competitors like Galaxy F54 (4 years) and OnePlus 11R (3 years).
Also, the refresh rate is good but the feel is not quite optimized, the UI stutters a bit during camera switching and other everyday use. We can say that Vivo has ample space for improvement.
Camera
The Vivo V27 features a triple camera setup. On the rear, it has a 50MP primary camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro lens.
Daylight Images
The imageries in daylighting conditions are vibrant and punchy. If you are not fond of such outputs, you can use the natural mode too. Comparing with the
Ultrawide
Getting to the ultrawide cameras, both the V27 and Galaxy A54 produce sub-par images. Not that it is too bad but ultrawide cameras in this range just cannot be flagship level.
Selfie
For selfies, the front camera performs decent. However, we found the Vivo V27 takes a bit lighter and softer pictures with beauty filters as compared to Galaxy A54.
Low Light
The low-light images from V27 are pretty good. To compare, the outputs are even better than those from the Galaxy A54.
Aura Light
In low-light situations, you can use the Super Night mode and the Aura Light, which also acts as a flash. You can adjust the camera settings to suit the mood and style you want for your photos. One drawback is that there is no option to adjust the brightness of the Aura Light in Portrait Mode.
Video Recording
In terms of video recording, the V27 can shoot at a maximum of [email protected] (frames per second) using both front and rear cameras. This is great for creating cinematic footage or content. However, when using the OIS+EIS feature in 4K mode, the video quality automatically switches to 1080P. The camera video, if compared, Galaxy A54 offers a better quality although the same [email protected] fps is offered in both phones.
Motion Stability
When you walk while recording with the V27’s main camera, the footage becomes shaky and unstable. However, when you stand still or move the camera smoothly, there are no issues. The ultrawide camera is slightly better but still not completely stable when walking. It’s only a problem when you’re in motion, and it’s fine when standing or panning.
Battery
The Vivo V27 has impressive battery life, lasting for two days on a single charge, with light usage. The included 66W wall adapter charges the phone quickly, reaching around 100% in just 55 minutes. The battery capacity is the same as the Vivo V27 Pro, at 4,600mAh. Overall, the Vivo V27 has a good battery performance, lasting around 6.5 to 7 hours for heavy users.
Vivo V27 Review: Conclusion
Overall, the Vivo V27 is undoubtedly a good-looking phone with a dual glass design and color-changing back. With the sleek design, the Dimensity 7200 5G inside the V27 does a fair job, if not the best in the segment. As a camera-centric brand, you can capture decent-looking images from its triple camera setup and the selfie unit. The device’s long-lasting battery life and fast charging technology ensure uninterrupted usage throughout the day. While the single speaker and no OS update policy are bummers.
