CRISPR gene editing tested in space
CRISPR gene editing has been tested in space. Astronaut Christian Koch and other scientists have proven that CRISPR-CAS 9 gene editing works not only on Earth but also in space.
They showed how this new process damages DNA and how it repairs itself in microgravity. It had not previously been explored due to technical and safety concerns.
In this test, a harmful double strand was created in the International Space Station yeast cell culture.
This test was performed some time ago but its results have only recently come out. This test will further increase the chances of people going to Mars.
