Sunil Poudel found guilty in National Payment Gateway case, others acquitted

Sunil Paudel, the then executive director of the National Information Technology Center, was found guilty of irregularities in establishing the National Payment Gateway.

The bench of special court chairman Teknarayan Kunwar and member Muraribabu Shrestha convicted Pode on Friday.

The then Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the then Chairman of the National Information Technology Center Sanjay Sharma, the then Executive Director of the Center Pranita Upadhyay, the then Deputy Director-Executive Director of the Center and currently Managing Director-Director of Nepal Telecom Sunil Paudel, the then Director of the Center and currently Deputy Director Safal Shrestha, of the Ministry of Finance Determining that there was corruption in the collusion of then Head of Budget and Program Division and now Secretary of Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply Madhukumar Marasini, then Assistant Director of the Center Ramesh Prasad Pokharel, then Accounts Officer of the Center Nim Bahadur Wali, then Accounts Officer of the Center Ram Bahadur Budha, Computer Engineer of the Center Ram Sharan Gaik. The authority has filed a case against them.

All of them except Poudel have been acquitted. His appearance has been fixed on May 25 to determine his punishment.

The special court held that the software purchased by paying 232.7 million 58 thousand was misused by not putting it into operation.
