Information and Broadcasting Department Issues Warning Against Unlicensed Operation of OTT, VOD, and IPTV Services

The Department of Information and Broadcasting has requested to operate OTT, VOD and IPTV services only with a license.

By publishing a notice, the department has requested to operate/make OTT, VOD and IPTV services only after obtaining a license.

According to the National Broadcasting (Eleventh Amendment) Regulations, 2078 published in the Nepal Gazette Volume 71, there is a provision that OTT, VOD and IPTV services can only be operated with a license.

The department has also asked the OTT, VOD and IPTV organizations that are operating without a license to immediately stop the operation of those services.

The Department of Information and Broadcasting has also warned that if the service is operated without a license from the department, action will be taken according to the law.
