According to reports, this feature has been in the works since June and will soon be available on the platform. Users trying to send messages without following will face two new obstacles.

Now users can send just one message to someone who doesn’t follow them instead of an unlimited number of DM requests. Additionally, users may send photo, video or audio messages to that person only when the recipient accepts the message request.

According to Instagram, users will no longer receive unwanted photo or video messages from followers and no one will be able to send them repeated messages.

The app’s ‘Secret Word’ setting automatically sends DM requests containing offensive words, phrases or emojis to a secret folder. According to the study, the ‘limits’ feature on Instagram protects users from a sudden increase in unnecessary comments or DM requests.
