According to information provided by Elon Musk’s neurotechnology company on Tuesday, this project is specifically focused on patients with paralysis. The development of this chip is based on six years of research. The company has obtained permission to test this chip on patients.

Media reports suggest that the clinical trials for brain chip implantation may include only patients suffering from paralysis caused by neck injuries or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

The study allows patients to control their thoughts using a computer cursor or keyboard, enabling a better evaluation of the safety and efficacy of the implant.

However, researchers will need to utilize a robot to connect the chip to the part of the brain responsible for controlling movement.

The completion of this study is expected to take approximately six years. However, no information is available regarding the number of participants involved in this research.

The company aims to obtain initial approval to implant the chip in at least 10 patients. Neuralink, founded by Elon Musk in 2016, is a neurotechnology company focused on the development of implantable brain-computer interfaces. The company is still in its early stages of development.
