The cabinet meeting held on Tuesday decided to thank all those who worked on behalf of Nepal in the case filed by Ncell in the international delegation.

Against Nepal, Aziata UK applied to the International Center for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) to arbitrate the capital gains tax imposed by Nepal during the indirect acquisition (business) of 80 percent of Ncell shares in 2016.

ICSID gave a decision on the application and gave a decision in favor of Nepal. If the verdict was not in favor of Nepal, Nepal would have to pay billions of rupees.

Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dhanraj Gurung said that the decision in Nepal’s favor has saved billions of rupees from losses, and it has been decided to thank everyone including the lawyers involved.

‘Ncell itself filed a case in the International Court. In that regard, the decision was made only a few days ago, and the Nepal side has won,’ he said while announcing the decision.
