We make provision in the law that the same information of a citizen cannot be taken more than once: CEO Bista
The CEO of the Electronic Governance Commission, Dipesh Bista, announced at the opening session of CAN Infotech on Thursday that the issue of citizens having to repeatedly provide the same information will be resolved. According to Bista, the Electronic Governance Bill will ensure that the same information of citizens is only collected once. He further explained that the bill will regulate the collection of biometric data, which is currently required in multiple places causing inconvenience to customers.
The Council of Ministers meeting held on January 25th has given theoretical approval to draft the bill that will make arrangements for the Electronic Governance Commission. The commission will now prepare a draft of the bill related to electronic governance.
Bista emphasized the importance of e-governance and digital leadership, stating that the government should move forward as a ‘pro-active’ government. He added that the government is responsible for serving its citizens, and all government systems must be interconnected to achieve this goal.
